This PDF download shows you how to calculate the amount of felt yardage that will create a cut and sew garment. It takes the measurements of your commercial pattern and translates the numbers to allow for shrinking.  It also teaches you how to best plan your layout of the pattern pieces to use the natural organic edges of felt, and avoid hems and facings.
 
NOTE: IT IS NOT A FULL TUTORIAL ABOUT MAKING A COAT FROM START TO FINISH.
 
It will assist someone who is already experienced making flat felt fabric (scarves, or shawls) and take them through the math and layout calculations with the goal of making enough (but not TOO much) felt fabric to cut and sew using their own prefered pattern.
