Scraps of Solitude

While surrounded by unprecedented events and restrictions we struggle to find a moment of “normalcy” in our lives. Some will retreat further and further into isolation, but the lucky one finds a way to fill her soul with the beauty in nature’s solitude. The use of cast off felt scraps from other projects further reflects the ability to find pleasure and meaning during isolated times with materials at hand. Resilience is reflected in medium and subject.

This work, created in the winter of 2021, is made from off-cuts of my nuno felt coats, used like mosaics and sewn into place on a bed of black merino wool and silk nuno felt. It has been received into a juried exhibition at City Hall, St. Catharines, ONT. The Art of Resilience runs from Sept 20, 2021 - March 15, 2022.
