New style, and new nunofelt

After experiencing a wonderful online workshop with the magnificent Fiona Duthie, I began experimenting with sumi ink, and silk dyes on silk chiffon. The jacket seen here is completely covered with chiffon silk hand dyed and steam set before imbedding in natural white merino wool fibre. There is also inked prefelt silk in squares and lines to add detail and extra texture. The buttons were a find too, finishing the look with white paint slashes across the black surface.

This new way of preparing silk fabric for nuno felting will keep me amused for a long time. Breaking free from primarily sari silk to my own painted silk will open up my creativity. I love it and hope you do too.
